Winter Wheat
Talinisu PALLAS
Class A winter wheat with excellent winter hardiness
Medium-maturing milling wheat with stable falling number and protein content
Resistant to eye spot and fusarium, not susceptible to powdery mildew and rust
- outstandingly powerful foliage, exceptionally broad leaves from the shoot stage to the flag leaf
- wide leaf = large photosynthetic surface
- strong-straw variety, thick straw wall, good lodging resistance
- responds well to growth regulators
- Disease resistance is good – it does not get infected with powdery mildew and wheat DTR is not a concern, the correct timing of septoria control keeps the plants healthy
- it is a so-called "head variety", meaning that large foliage produces large and long heads
PALLAS directs all growth energy into the growth of productive shoots, does not grow late and additional shoots
In 2024, in wheat variety comparison trial on Puide Talu field, Pallas was the best winter-hardy and highest-yielding variety with a yield of 11.8 t/ha
The Viljandi Experimental Center has been obtaining very good results with the Pallas variety for several years:
2023 – Yield 9.46 t/ha, bulk density 83 kg/hl, falling number 348 sec, gluten 30%, protein 13.34% (highest in the experiment)
2024 – Yield 10.7 t/ha, bulk density 79.5 kg/hl, falling number 383 sec, gluten 20.88%, protein 11.18%
